Bolivia Intends to Invest 40.3 Billion to Increase Power Generation by 2020

        On December 3rd, the Bolivian government said that by 2020 it would invest 6.3 billion US dollars (about 40.33 billion yuan), to make the national power generation capacity increase to 4800 megawatts from the current 1,800 megawatts, and consider exporting electricity.
        Bolivian Vice President announced the investment amount at a seminar at the University of Science and Technology. He explained that the Bolivian government planned to build the energy center in the Southern Cone region.
        The Vice President confirmed President Morales deciding to promote electricity generation, rather than focusing on the export of natural gas. Currently, Bolivia has sold gas to Brazil and Argentina.
        In recent months, as oil prices plummet, Bolivia's natural gas prices also fell sharply. According to Bolivia's bureau of statistics, said the first 10 months of 2015, Bolivia earned $3.45 billion (RMB 22.08 billion) by gas exports and a small amount of oil, with year-on-year slide of 39 per cent.
        Investment in power would be reflected in an increase of hydropower, thermal power, wind power, solar energy and other resources for power generation.
