Kenya Power Obtained 380 Million Loan to Expand Power Distribution Network

         Recently, the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) have ensured a 6 billion shillings (about 380 million yuan) loan from the French Development Agency (AFD) to finance its expanding distribution network.
         Distribution network expansion was expected to implement in Mombasa, Kisumu and Nairobi to improve Kenya's electricity supply reliability, so as to reduce power outages.
         "This type of financing for the first time is a clear sign that Kenya electric power can directly use financial resources to invest in the grid," said by Chumo Ben, general manager of Kenya Power Company.
         "The signing of the financing agreements shows that important resources are available for parastatals and the private sector to support climate-friendly projects." French Ambassador to Kenya Remi Marechaux represented.
In addition to the expansion of the distribution network, the loan would finance the implementation of the company's distribution plan, and it aimed to ensure using minimum power outages to increase the company's earnings.
